defining yourself

I here all this talk about how one should not allow career or school to define them, but quite honestly how can one escape this especially if the majority of your time is spent on school or career?

just questioning?..

I have the same problem...
I know exactly what you mean -- when someone asks me who I am, my first impulse is to state my job and major in school. I guess what you choose to study in school (or outside of school) does offer a lot of insight into who you are, right? Even your job can show what your skills and abilities might be...

Maybe the problem is that we (as in our whole society) are so caught up in the idea of the market being the end all and be all that we assign our worth based on our place in the market -- does that make sense?
