Hi,
I just wanted to post my thoughts about learning in a post-secondary institution. It is no surprise that many of us have to go through a bulk of courses or learning experiences that we might not enjoy, but we know that we have to accomplish in order to reach our goals. Currently, I am in my first year of Political Science and I hope to get into a Masters program in Local Economic development. I know that my goal is to have a career in community development, but as a first year student, I am not greatly enjoying my political science class. I brought this up with an advisor at school and she criticized me for not thoroughly enjoying my schooling.
Truthfully, the subject matter is intriguing, but the learning experience is not. I wish we could use what we learn and have more interactive debates or group projects.
Regardless of what the advisor said I am still going to stick to Political Science. First year tends to be very general, but I am really looking forward to second year when I have courses in globalization, and international relations.
What do you guys think, isnt my experience a common one?
